Florida is Open for Business & Legendary Rocker Sammy Hagar is Leading The Charge
By Sean Mills
Florida is open for business and legendary rocker Sammy Hagar is one entertainer leading the charge.
On May 3, Governor Ron DeSantis issued an executive order suspending all local restrictions for the COVID-19 pandemic. The executive order has bridged the gap between now and when restrictions will be fully lifted on July 1, 2021.
Florida is one of the first and only states in the country to clear the path for residents looking to get back into the world and have some fun. Up first, rocker Sammy Hagar & The Circle will be playing at the outdoor Coffee Butler Amphitheater in Key West on Sunday, May 23. The former Van Halen frontman has been lighting up the airwaves for nearly 40 years and he’s ready to light it up in Florida once again.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer behind such hits as “I Can’t Drive 55” and “Why Can’t This Be Love” is joined by The Circle, including original Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony. They will be in Key West for one night only before moving on to back-to-back shows in Orlando.
Come out and join other longtime Hagar fans for your first real concert since lockdown. Though local businesses and restaurants are still allowed to impose some mask and distancing restrictions indoors, the Food & Drug Administration has opened the coronavirus vaccine to everyone ages 12 years and up in the Sunshine State.
Nearly nine million Floridians have received at least one dose of the vaccine. With everyone getting their shots, more and more plans are in place for Florida to be fully reopened by the summer. Indoor restaurants and businesses are open for 25% capacity for now, with more reopenings by the start of next month. Inns and hotels can now operate at half capacity.
All Florida Keys businesses will be allowed to reopen on June 1, and the state is doing away with some checkpoints heading into South Florida and the Keys.
There are plans in place across the state to reopen beaches by the summer. Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez announced that beaches and hotels in his area will reopen on June 1, including lounging on the sand, walks on the beach, and swimming. Hotels in the Miami-Dade area will be allowed to reopen at 100% capacity.
Other upcoming attractions in South Florida include the Hyundai Air & Sea Show in Miami Beach, as part of the National Salute to America’s Heroes weekend May 29 and 30. The South Florida Fair is taking place until May 23 at the Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach and will feature many beloved attractions and rides.
