Chris Godwin is Back – Go Bucs!

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have secured a pivotal piece of their offense by re-signing wide receiver Chris Godwin to a three-year, $66 million contract, with $44 million guaranteed. Despite receiving more lucrative offers from other teams, notably the New England Patriots, Godwin chose to remain in Tampa Bay, demonstrating his loyalty to the franchise.

Prior to a season-ending ankle injury in Week 7 of the 2024 season, he was leading the NFL in receptions (50), receiving first downs (30), and yards after catch (324), while tying for first in receiving touchdowns (five). He was on pace for nearly 1,400 receiving yards, which would have set a career-high.

With Godwin’s return, the Buccaneers maintain a formidable receiving trio alongside Mike Evans and emerging talent Jalen McMillan. This continuity is expected to bolster the team’s offensive strategy under new offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard.

In addition to retaining Godwin, the Buccaneers have been active in strengthening their roster for the upcoming season. They have signed pass rusher Haason Reddick to a one-year, $14 million deal, aiming to enhance their defensive capabilities. Furthermore, the team re-signed left guard Ben Bredeson to a three-year contract, ensuring stability on the offensive line.

These strategic moves reflect the Buccaneers’ commitment to remaining competitive in the NFC South and making a deeper playoff run in the 2025 season. By retaining key players and adding new talent, Tampa Bay aims to build on their previous successes and address areas that need improvement.
